O-Leviate Ominous Strands, be Outrageous with Ombres

Although we are almost sure that 10 years from now this do will be quite disastrous, Ombre looks are sweeping the nation one neo hippie at a time. And why not jump on this lustrous little red wagon?

From Striking to Subtlety, ombres are by far the quickest, cheapest and easiest way to change up your locks.

Pay Homage to your Ombre and learn how to distress your strands here!

1. First purchase your cheapest highlighting kit with the prettiest girl on the box. We always go for the loyal Frost N Tip. Not only is it $9.99 at your nearest Publix, but the name itself is pure marketable genius.

2. Slap on some murderous gloves.

3. Mix your solution following the directions (for those that do not like to read, we took pretty pictures for you)

4. Grab an old towel to drape around your neck (Mexican poncho style is the best)

5. Grab a big chunk of dye in your hands

6. Paste (thickly) on the last inch and half of your hair (also while renovating your new home)

7. Continue slapping the bleach throughout the last inch of your hair

8. Let that sit for about 3-5 min

9. For a more subtle look (Amber), start with the bleach glob at the end of your hair and use your finger to spread the dye up as far as you'd like your ombre to go.

10. For more striking look, A la Ashley, slap on more bleach globs and work your way to as high up as you'd like to go.

11. We always recommend some what framing your face in the front with bleach (A little higher in the very front)

12. Let the dye sit for 15-30 min. You will see your hair starting to take color.

13. If your hair does not pull color easily, try putting a plastic bag over the hair and blow dry for a 1-5 minutes using low heat.

14. Wash your hair, blow, and style with some pretty DHH waves!

BUMBLE BONUS: Want to get Amber's hair?
Short hair isn't always the easiest to curl. If your hair is anything like Amber's, it frizzes when it air dries and to curl it she has to straighten it first. That's crazy talk. Buy yourself some free time and throw in some Bumble & Bumble untextured cream on the ends of your hair and Lightly blow dry. This cream will bring out the natural body in your hair while keeping away the unwanted frizz. Next, play off of your natural waves and curl a few pieces of hair to polish up the look.

This cream is worth every dollar you'll spend on it and Perfect for a mom of three on the go.

BUMBLE BONUS: Want to get Asher's hair?
Ashley's long waves constantly undergo heat and bleach-glob maintenance. It is vital to take care of those heavenly hippie hues of hair. Try using Bumble & Bumble Creme de Coco Shampoo and Conditioner. This bad boy does miracles on dry hair and alleviates any room for a frizz disaster. Not only is it infused with Coconut and Murumuru butter making for a delicious scent, but it is virtually the ONLY conditioner that can brush through any Spanish mane in less than three strokes (we would know).  Thus, this conditioner primes for the perfect soft wave.

Salubrious In Scarves

Despite the continuous saturnine days of Florida heat, we are still remaining rather quixotic for a hopeful Florida Fall.

..And with Fall seemingly peaking around the corner, we couldn't resist uprooting a premature and (most notable) fall accessory : SCARVES.

Noticing that most Floridians own few scarves (as our market demand curve is below average) we found it best to wear one scarf as many ways as possible, thus masking our habitual outfit duplication to be hardly noticeable.

One Scarf can go a long way....

1. Perfect way to sneak a a peak at a scarf through a coat. Simply fold your scarf in half, place around your neck and loop the ends of the scarf in the folded crease of your scarf.

2. Classic and girly, this make-shift scarf bow is simple and unique. Perfect for plain tunics, tops and blazers.

3. Hate turtle necks? We do, too. Use a scarf instead. Try wrapping the scarf around your neck a few times and twist to make the ends fall in front.

4. An easy way to twist up the look of your scarf (pun intended). Simply tie a few knots in your scarf to get this look.

5. The Classic Shaw-Scarf. Jazz up a chic rocker Tee or Tunic and you're ready to go.

6. No time to wash your hair? Tie your hair up in a low bun at the crown of your neck. Throw a scarf around your head a tie a knot in your scarf under your bun to keep it in place. Boho and adorable, its sure to brighten up any outfit.

7. Winter requires lots and lots of layers (If you dont live in Florida). Dont get lost in translation, belt your scarf to show off your curves. This look is also an easy way to add color to an otherwise plain outfit.  This is perfect on top of blazers and coats as well.

Autumn Pretty: Bleach, Braids, Beauty, and Bumble.

Although we are still patiently waiting for a cold front to peregrinate our way, we couldn't bare the thought of a long awaited fall participation...

The mere seasons O' changing obligations normally dance around darkened locks, soft waves and luscious lips. While tradition still stands authorial, why not diversify an amalgamation of a Summer O' Winter?

Check out these quick,  effortless and adorably messy summer looks that are easily successive for Fall in 5 minutes or less. Bring out the bleach, Braids & Bumble!

Dirty Hair? Messy Bun.

If you're anything like us,  its been at least a few days since you've washed your hair. Spruce it up with a messy Side Bun. They are perfect for practically any occasion and are completely congruent for 6am wake up calls.  Add a flower for extra charm.

1. Grab a quarter section of hair on one side of your head.
Take that section and split it into two strands.
2. Twist the two strands of hair, then grab more hair to place in the
two stands. Twist again, add more hair into both sides of each strands.
keep repeating as you twist.
3. Keep Braiding back until it wraps around the back of your head to the opposite
side of where you started the braid.
4.Twist the extra hair left over, wrap it around your fingers to make a bun
and pin in place.
5. Add a fun flower to polish the messy look.

Here are other looks done by using the same braided technique used above:
(Easy way to spice up short or greasy hair)

Going for a Boho-Nicole Richie-inspired do?

1. Split hair down the middle of your head.
2. Tightly make two braids, one in each section.
3. Once braided, cross the two strands at the bottom of your neck.
4. Bring the braids up on your head and pin in place. It is ok if your hair does not reach all the way around your head. Pin it on the sides under hair. You will still achieve the same look.

BUMBLE BONUS: Hair is too thin to braid? Add some untextured or grooming cream by Bumble & Bumble to add texture and make hair style more easily.

Craving Beach Waves in Winter? Check out this quick tutorial below. All you need is a straightener.

BUMBLE BONUS: Hair wont hold curls? Try spraying Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray either before or after you curl your hair. It will hold the curls by adding messy texture and give you an effortless, chic  and unkempt look.

We swear by this stuff - it is LITERALLY a miracle in a bottle.

fall fashion in florida: anomaly in alliteration?

Fall in Florida is far from the whimsical winter wonderland that much of the Northeast gets to experience. While the portions of the States that actually experience seasons transition through cooler fall temperatures and changing leaves to white show falling, Florida remains essentially the same temperature until one day, it's winter.  (And by 'winter', we mean 60 degrees...we fully acknowledge this may sound fatuous to anyone a mere few hours North)

Florida fall uproots Ugg Boots in the cool 74 degree air, dictates cardigans as an autocracy, and graces tawdry clothing as ordinary and acceptable.

Florida fall fashion is a pit of despair. Once the temperature drops below 70 degrees in Florida, a curious and calamitous trend materializes among Floridians - they attempt to utilize their summer wardrobe alongside the 4 "winter" items any Floridian buys out of necessity, with little thought as to how they will realistically combine them with their Floridian accoutrement.
And corporate fall fashion...well-is nonexistent...

Corporate fashion is predicated on fluorescent lighting and a continuously controlled 68-degreed bio-dome. Oh, the ignominy of such a hapless environment.

However, despite this trecherous and fixed atmosphere, we decided to amalgamate Florida fall pieces with H.R acceptability, using only a few limited (and mostly thrifted) resources.

Classic summer outfits that transition to Fall by adding a scarf/shawl, closed-toed shoes or booties with a pair of tights.  (Thrifted: Victorian blouse, Wide leg bellbottoms, Fur Shawl, and sheer black blouse from The Sal.  Ecote Clogs purchased at Urban Thread, Gainesville.  Merca boots from NastyGal)  All photos: AshleiPhotography @ AsheliPhotography.com

dirtyhippiehair - we're here!

Everyone has the story-the story that lead them to reason with fate, to battle the perilous and fiery disruptions of social constructions, and alas...pry open the gateway to self sustained righteousness bedazzled in periwinkle rhinestones.

That story, is not ours.

Our story is filled with inimical ribaldry and patent leather Jeffrey Campbell pumps.

No, No we don't always listen to the Grateful dead and smell like patchouli. Nor are we indigenous to any realm of suburbia. Although, we have reverted to adopting the look of the counterculture-wearing clothes from 1984 paired with days old hair.

We're just two girls, the same as the next intellectual, coexisting with Corporate America in a hellacious array of suiting, structured blouses, trousers and sandals---that's right, we said sandals.

And here we stand-in pursuit of justice, ready to share our Chanel taste on our Salvation Army budget.  Our insatiable addition to clothing, shoes, hair, and above all--ephemeral fashion liberalism.

So, here it is...the three finest words or sobriquets that could define us:

Dirty. Hippie. Hair.

WELCOME!
