Perfectly Pink...

First making a flawless appearance on Emma Stone, the pink and red duo have been around for almost two seasons now...and yet, we still love it.

Check out how we paired this look for Florida fun..

Pair with flats or a wedge, gold bangles and Waaaa-Laaaahhh.

Transition Tantrum

The summer months are slowly crawling closer to fall and its time to start selecting your summer transitional pieces! Our favorite, and most obvious, color for this times O' turning would definitely have to be red--and variations of the sort. Red revives the youth of summer, it can be worn in outfit neutrals or on your smackers. Its the versatile color of transition...

Embracing your hair color and skin tone is a MUST when using reds on your lips to make your palette pop. Remember our number 1 rule, if you play up lips, play down eyes!

Auburn/Brunette/blond- Pink Undertones.

I use Deep reds and pinks with blue undertones (blue makes your teeth look whiter). Think Berry, Cherries,  and true reds. Steer clear of orange-red but feel free to embrace coral (a more pink-orange).

Auburn/Brunette/Blond/Reds- Olive Undertone
Go crazy! You're a talent of reds! You can use burgundy shades, to tangerine red! Rock deep reds with purple hues--A La wine colored.

Sweatin that Summer Skin

Review, Review...

From Season to Season, it can sometimes become troubling to suit up your skin. So, for those of you who are having trouble finding your glow, here are my summer savers.

1. Murad Skin Perfecting Lotion SPF 30. Now, I don't recommend this for the greasy at heart, but this lotion makes my makeup application a smooth easy ride. This thick creamer shrinks my pores and allows me to apply my makeup with a barely there approach. Worth every dollar.

2. TooFaced Natural Eye Palette- Uh-May-Zing. Not only are these the perfect shades for summer, but Ive been using the colors 'Nude Beach' and 'Fashion' as instant highlighters under my eyes and on my check bones. Honey pot is sure to enhance any eye color. This Natural Palette is safe for those who shy away from shadow.

3. Stila Sparkling Glaze- Stained gloss is always a go to for any occasion. It can transform from day to night and drops a jazz color to light up those lips all while keeping those suckers hydrated in the summer heat.

beachin' beauties

a dear friend was in town this past weekend to visit, and i thought i would share some fun shots of our trip.

in true floridian style, we headed out to the beach on an adventure abundant with great small town finds, like a local donut shop and a non-touristy section of the beach to relax on.

the night before, we had amazing drinks at local mandarin hide, a prohibition era styled bar.

enjoy!

The Wears of Weddings

First, let it be known that DHH is no rookie when it comes to weddings. In fact, we've been to nearly a dozen in the past year.

Buttttt with each new year comes a blossom of newly weds, and this is how we started off our wedding season this year.

What we Wore: Salt N Peplum Dress from Modcloth.com

PEPLUM. you win when its in. We normally dont risk our fate when it comes to trends but this darling peplum style was too taunting to toss.

Hair & Makeup:
Hair: Surf Spray
Lips: TIGI Bed Head Girls just Wanna Have Fun in Serenity
Blush: MAC Frankly Scarlet
Mascara: Define A Lash

I chose a side swept look to jazz up the classic and retro appeal. I kept the makeup simple and added some pink lips for summer sass.

Surfer Straight

Normally, my day to day hair routine involves, very little hair brushing, Bumble & Bumble's Spray de Mode, and and a few ounces of surf spray. However, today I opted to go for a big straight blow out and switch it up.

The key to getting big, straight hair is texture. Its all about texture. Now, while I can use BB surf spray to play up my waves, I also like it spray it in my damp hair and give my locks a good heated blow.  The texture makes my hair bigger and more susceptible to the florida humidity.

Heres what I used on my damp hair...

1. Bumble&Bumble Surf Spray
2. Bumble&Bumble Thickening Spray
3. Bumble&Bumble Tonic

I mixed in the product and literally blew my hair out, away from my face. I gave myself a deep side part to blow dry half of my hair, then flipped to another side part of the other side of my head to do the other section. I also flipped my hair upside sprayed it down with BB spray de mode, and flipped it back up to fix up with my fingers.

The key was to quickly run a straightener through the ends of my hair afterwards so I could still have body with a slight refined straight look.  This means, i barely used the straightener ONE time through my locks.  Let your layers do the talking...

happy 4th, from us...

We know, we know...we are a little late on wishing America (and Asher) a Happy Birthday, but we were busy with a great day on the lake.  We wanted to share 'What We Wore' on this special holiday edition.  Enjoy!
